Stopped by a little lake for lunch yesterday, grabbed a rod, walked to the water, dropped fly in water, said "got one" my wife said "yeah right". To catch a fish before you have even really made a cast...life is good.

Rod is an old Garcia 5star with the metal ferrule and quad grip, really a sweet tool, used used used would be embarrassing if you could see all the loose threads. Reel is a Martin.

Nice fish, great dogs. I have that same exact rod, I need to take it bass fishing and see if it has the same magic.

Very nice- I have my share on Garcia Conlons too. They don't seem to get the love as others do, but they have some with magic tapers and fish shaking feel.

When I got this rod the stripper guide was missing, I very reluctantly put it back where is was originally, which IMO was waaaay too far from the grip. But in fishing, I don't mind it, and this is one of the smoothest casting rods I own. I think it is an 8wt line I have been using on it. Has been my most-used rod the last few years, will deal well with a #4 weighted bugger or a #12 soft hackle.
