I love beautiful reel seats. I have to admit that I've bought rods just because of the reel seat. Anybody want to share photos of your prettiest one(s)? Here's mine: (It's blued nickel silver with Jerusalem olive wood that the first owner brought back from the Holy Land.)

Well those are very nice! Love the way wood grain can seem to go in different directions at the same time as in the Olivewood. Couldn't locate my fly rod pictures but here are a couple of conventional rods and a fly rod grips. Pretty wood is pretty wood, right?

Pictures don't do the Black walnut justice!

Some nice redwood burl!

Can't remember the name of this burl but it turned out a really nice lite caramel color.

I spend more time than is healthy thinking about reel seats. Top two are Amboyna. Bottom is English Walnut similar to but a bit different from the American Black Walnut. (needs another coat of varnish). All turned by me.

Man, that is some nice wood! You're right Boarmountain, it is box elder, I was having a little senior moment there.
That reelseat is one of a couple I picked up a few years ago. Discontinued REC seat. Wish I could get more.

Oh please stop! These reel seat pics are killing me. Beautiful wood on seats is my favorite part of a rod, stripping Agates are a close second.. The seats you guys are showing are like showing a junkie their fix and not letting them get hold of it. So unfair and yet, I can't look away.

Here is the seat I made for my Lami 6.5 3#. I have several pieces of this wood and just tried photographing this rod again

They aren't the fanciest by any stretch, but I really like the looks of the Hardy's JET era reel seats ...

Turtledoc - I agree with you on the Hardy JET reel seats; the overall aesthetic is just right.

I have to admit that I'm a sucker for a good looking reel seat too. It's especially important to me the way they marry up to the grip. Here is my favorite.

Image

The grip is a shortened Fenwick style.

I'm partial to an old-school NS down-locker, with walnut spacer:

I think the wood on the new McFarland 8'3" seven weight applies for this too ...

I love this reel seat is from ibookje's RW Summers cane rod (photo used w/ permission). I have a Summers rod with a similar reel seat coming my way soon except mine has nickel silver rings instead. I especially like the unique and functional hardwood end caps (buttcap & cork grip check).
