Just finished this rod. No casting experience as yet, pouring outside and will wait for a drier day. Snake Brand Universal blued guides and for the first time, a Proof black 8mm stripping guide. Seat hardware is a Ray Lee ring and blued n/s pocket ring w/o the cap. Insert is obviously part cork and part hardwood from one of the burls I’ve picked up over the years. No idea as to type of wood and is very subject to fracturing (exploding) on the lathe, but I like it. Thread is YLI 100 with YLI copper metallic for the minimal trim bands. Finish is spar varnish. Hope you like it.

Really like the ventilated grip and reel seat. Matt Proof’s guides are a good choice. Nice build. Hope you get a chance to try it out soon.

Nice work, also your lathe work and the grip, I have never felt a vent. grip, if I ever get out of my douldrums and laziness I would like to try it.

Nice build. I've built out the 8'5wt Glassic and really enjoyed it as well. Beautiful color.

Thanks for all the kind words. As for the ventilated grip, it is easier to do than I thought.
