Just finished this 8 foot 5wt North Fork Iconoglass fly rod using one of their natural color blanks. I built one last year on a gray blank for a friend and liked the way it performed so I decided to build one for myself. When I picked up the blank I noted it had a nice bluish tinge so I paired it with a dyed blue tiger maple reel seat insert and Fuji Blue Dunn poly thread wraps with black silk trim bands. The reel seat is a down locking Lemke LC7 in black nickel and fitted with Snake Brand dark nickel universal guides with a 12mm Nanolite TiChrome stripper. I also mounted a classic 6 1/2” torpedo style grip I purchased from Proof Fly Fishing and finished the rod with three thin coats of Thread Master Lite. A recently acquired Pflueger 1494 Medalist loaded with Cortland 444 Sylk DT 5wt line should balance well on this rod. Hoping to break it in (not literally) on the Deschutes River once the weather warms. Thanks for viewing.

Beautiful craftsmanship. I use that same thread color regularly. It looks fantastic here.

Thanks all for the kind words. I took it out to the river yesterday for the first time and while I didn’t have any takes it was a joy to cast and will get plenty of stream time this season.
