I'm having a devil of a time finding a color match to this fly rod.
Is this Hexcel glass ? 1970's ? Maybe earlier.
Curious if this is a factory made rod and if so - by who ?
Numerous ideas... but nothing solid.
Many thanks.

Its a very smooth taper... interesting the handle is a tournament caster style.
I'm not much into the gold but its right for the time frame of the make.

This rod belonged to the current rodmaker James Green before me.
It does have history ties to Henry Fujita / and the SF area.

Where is that dadgum o-ring...

Looks very close to a color match with this Fenwick 325. Fenwick used Grizzly blanks during this era. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=615 http://fiberglass-fly-rods.pbworks.com/ ... 77/Fenwick

Realize that it may have faded over the years. Or sometimes the color becomes richer/darker. If the wraps and/or ferrules have been on there from the start, peeling one would reveal something much closer to the original color. No real harm in doing that, but not worth the bother either if it--as it appears to be--is in fine condition. The previous owner would be the first one to ask about its history if no one here can say for sure. The simple, elegant cosmetics--no mylar, no bizzaro trim or diamond wrap--and common quality components of the time do suggest a careful, purposeful build, rebuild, or first time build on an old-stock blank.
