Here are some pics of a winter build I recently finished up. Blank is from James Green in his Montana trout series. 8' 5wt (technically I think it's 8'1"). Maple Burl slide band reel seat by RL. Clear wraps tipped with navy blue.

Nice medium glass action. Semi-para taper flexes a little deeper down the blank. Doesn't like to be pushed, but nice and smooth with an easy casting stroke. Doesn't get much better for an all-around trout rod. I'll be taking this out to a friend in West Michigan once spring hits.

Nice build! Yellow has to be my favorite color on a blank, and your clear wraps look great. Do you know how the Montana taper compares to other James Green blanks?

Nicely done, clean and classy! Sounds like a great taper too.

Thanks for all your compliments. This is the only James Green taper I've ever built....this one and a 7'5" 5wt....both are of the Montana trout series. So I can't compare them to his other blanks unfortunately. My understanding is that these are relatively new.
