Great! Beautiful, nice going, I hope you get to fish with it. I have and fish with the 7' version; its glass ferrule requires periodic attention with beeswax on its tip to prevent "clicking".

I put an offer on one of these on the auction site a couple months ago - and kept watching it, but had a lot of overlap in that length and line weight, but it was a 4pc and a 7wt. That one you received is beautiful and a lovely gift. How does it cast? Is it marked as an 8wt? Do you think it casts a 7wt well or is it a true 8wt?

Is that the 50th anniversary model?I have the 8wt 8' model.Never fished or cast.I bought 10 Heddon glass flyrods in a year.Garage sales flea markets a bait shop that carried vintage gear and a couple online.Heddons and Wonderods are fairly common around here. Some like your example are just beautiful.I have a few that have never been cast.Have a soft spot for the Great Lakes makers.

Brian they are true glow sticks. But to me they seem fragile but I know they are not.The ones I fish are strong rods able to horse largemouth out of the thickest weeds. My favorite moment in fishing is swing the bulge under thick slop homing in on a weed less bass bug .I have broken more than one graphite rod but never a glass rod.
