Well I bought another blank to build out from Mr Larry Kenney. The 8055 I have is an excellent rod. I'm so happy with it I decided to build out another glass rod from him. this one is going to be a present to a good friend that I'm visiting in July to fish with. He doesn't have a light dry style rod. when I reached out to Mr. Kenney he mentioned that he had this prototype rod on hand that he would be willing to part with. From LK: I have one blank that might work. A test of a slightly stronger 4 wgt. than my 794. 3 piece and it’ll build out to 7’8”. Tip top is a 5/64 instead of 4.5 so it will be just a hair slower than my 794.

So I did the build. I found I needed to stent the reel seat to fit properly. So finished product is a 8'1" 4wt. From LK on stenting rods: A stent, so long as it's only about the length of the reel seat, doesn't affect rod action. Go for it.

Pics, thanks for looking. This is all nylon thread with NOCP for the tan bands.

Nice build! I like the tan accent wraps. Your friend is going to love his gift.

I had the same question about extending the rod length by about 3” with a stint. I just got my first blank to build, a Trout Smiths E/S glass 7’6” 4/5, and I’m considering extending it to 7’9”. Good to hear Larry Kenney’s opinion on the subject.

Really like the glossy finish on the rod and your wraps.
Great build!
