I finished up a couple of ********* 5-weights over the weekend. The first is a 8'6" Western Glass that I built roughly and quickly to fish over the summer, knowing that I could finish the details over the winter.

The almond thread looks dark brown, but really pops in the sunlight.

The second is a 8'9" Traditional Graphite (IM6) that I bought as from Dusty as the successful prototype for this rod. I love fishing the rod. But the previous grip was never comfortable in my hand, and I didn't have the right thread to match what was already there. So, I stripped everything and did a total rebuild.

Again, the sunlight really brings out the colors of the thread—chestnut with blue dun and silver accents.

Man! Both are beautiful. I really like those trim bands on the western glass.

Nice builds! I especially like the almond wraps and tan trim on the 865.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. They mean quite a lot, given how much I have learned from this board and many of you personally.
