Just picked this rod up after seeing it on Graigs List in Seattle. From all appearances I believe it is a Cortland Leon Chandler 7 1/2ft 4-5 wt rod. There is no script anywhere on the rod. The label, while still there, is almost unreadable. But, close inspection of the label definitely shows that it is a Leon Chandler Signature fly rod. The ferrule fit is loose, so needs some attention. Apart from that and some darkening of the grip, the rod is in excellent condition with virtually no flaws on the blank. Wraps are all tight and in good condition. Anyone care to take a look and give me their thoughts as to whether this is what I believe it to be? Thanks, Roy

I don't see much mystery about it, unless the label looks altered as opposed to marred or faded. It would be pretty easy to fake an LC rod with a Fisher blank, but it's not like there is a lucrative market for them. Worst case scenario, and highly unlikely , a good "fake" on a Fisher blank would be a great rod anyhow. So is the real thing, the Fisher-made blank being the key reason.

Obvious evidence lacking, you have the real thing. High grade cosmetics and fittings on a Fisher blank. Use the search function here (upper right of the frame) to find out all you want to know. Here's a link for starters.

Those wraps and the reel seat sure look like a Leon Chandler. Fix the ferrule fit, and you have a great fishing rod.

In addition to being based on Fisher-made blanks, they have among the best cosmetics and fittings of the time. Here's how they looked new out of the tube:

Whrlpool - thanks for the info on the rod. The latest pics confirm beyond a doubt what I have. Not bad for a casual and infrequent view of Craigslist and a $50 price.

These are a fun way to let your best pals use your best backup equipment.

Only if they are really / really good pals. Because this is the Signature version afterall...
