Looks great! Shane is master, I have been thinking about the same blank for a brown drake/hex rod. Let us now your thoughts on casting the rod.
Aughty.

Great rod? What does that mean? Not much info there. Let’s hear what you like about it first?

Always admire Shane’s work. His components appear to be top quality and his creativity is extraordinary.

Crusty,
Well since I know you are a newcomer to glass rods, here you are. Steffen blanks/rods have been around since you were young. Mark was one of the few who rolled the blanks themselves. I really like that. The Steffen progressive taper makes as smooth casting a rod as there is in glass. When you combine that with Shane’s impeccable building prowess, you have as beautiful a rod as one could acquire.

Not sure if that is a weak attempt at humor, just plain ignorance, or taking a suggestion personally when no offense was meant. But, your original post did seem like a request for reassurement that needed redirection for you to declare your good reasons for buying a good rod design from a fine builder. I can comment on both in great detail as I usually do but I was waiting to hear what you had to say other than the word “great” which offers little in the way of specificities.
