New handle for a now-discontinued Echo glass 3wt switch. Lemke LC25 in champagne with an Osage orange insert. The colour of the insert should actually get closer and closer to that of the blank as the spar ages - at least that’s what happened on the first one of these I did.

This is now the 3rd rod in the series I’ve done, and I still have a 7wt spey waiting in the wings… this one and the 7wt I’m planning on keeping

A lot of stuff going on there in that grip and reel seat……….and I’m loving every bit of it!! Yeah, once that Osage gets some sun it’s gonna match that blank nicely.

Very nice!

What is the black material on the top part of the handle? Black cork?

Yep - burnt burl cork, except for the very top ring which is black rubberized.

beautiful. I enjoyed every one of the original echo glass rods I've casted and fished with, but never liked the factory handles and reel seats. I've rebuilt the handles on some of the single hand echo glass, in fact, that was the start of my journey into rod building. But I haven't yet redone the handle on my 7wt switch. This will inspire me. Really turns it in to a top shelf rod in my opinion.

Wow, that handle is amazing! You must have put a lot of thought into it.
Nice job!
