Just finished this yesterday. I'll wait a few days before I test cast it. Pic is a little dark. The wraps are actually green with black trim. I'll have to get a better one.

I can state with confidence that you will find it to cast like a cannon.

I’m sure it will. :). Hopefully, it will still feel like glass, and not graphite.

Very cool build indeed..
I can’t help thinking that it reminds me of a Wonderod with the white blank and those Dk green wraps.

Especially with a medalist rigged up on there too.
Looking forward to the review of the action. Glassy or Graphity? Which will it be?

Well I went to a local pond this evening to give the rod a try. I’m sorry to say, it was a huge disappointment. Basically, a broomstick with guides on it. The opposite of what I was hoping for. Oh well.

I started out with an 8-weight bass-bug taper line and tied on a cork bodied popper that was not too big. It would not turn over. I had to dramatically change my casting stroke to do anything at all, to the point where it was just not enjoyable to cast. Before I quit, I tried a 9-weight line for a few minutes. Slightly better, but not enough to change my opinion.

Hello,

having fished the finished blank for salmon in Norway this season I can confirm all statements so far:
>It casts like a cannon.
>It is more graphite like.
> You have to change your casting stroke to a quick forward cast with an pronounced stop of the rod at 10 O' Clock so to say.
I used an OPST floating shooting head of 4,6 meters and 300 gr/19,4 g that worked well overhead and spey style. The large diametre of the stiff butt helped playing fish, but.... well,.... the green rod looks pretty much like Luke's second light saber...
