I ordered an 8'6" #5/6 Steffen blank about a year and a half ago but due to the pandemic and other reasons I wasn't able to build it right away. This spring I finally had it built by a local bamboo rod builder named Enzo Bardus.
I got the rod mainly for lake fishing from shore and I'm pretty satisfied since it's a real roll-casting machine. Now I understand why Steffens are so highly regarded on this forum. The action is smooth with a great personality.
Components are Lemke LC5 hardware, maple burl reel seat, REC stripper, Snake Brand silver ECO coating guides and forest green ProWrap Color Fast nylon.
As far as lines go, a Cortland 444 SL WF #5 and a SA Air Cel DT #6 have worked well. I also lawn cast a "peach" DT6 and it seemed to be just fine. Looks like the rod's not too fussy about lines in my opinion.
Hope you enjoy the pictures-
