A simple build, teal wraps, black nickel Snake Brand guides, American tackle ring lock TiCh stripping, black nickel silver check, 6.5” snub nose grip and a Struble seat with a bamboo spacer.
Thank you for looking, Lanny

Very nice Lanny, the little curl on the front of the grip will facilitate that little thumb thrust that fiberglass rods seem to crave.

First the build is very well done! This length in glass 5 wght, is intriguing as I imagined it could be a multi purpose all around type rod? Would you share your reasons for obtaining the rod, beside the fact it would be another gem from Dusty’s collection.

Jastrout, hello I have always liked this in between length of the 8’3” configuration. I have had several rods in this length and knew Dusty would create a winner. It’s a wonderful new addition to his line up. His is the best of the bunch and I believe it’s due to his knowledge of tapers and how to inter-grate Uni S glass to achieve his vision of how he wants a rod to cast and recover. The blank is thin walled light and very responsive. It a perfect compliment to my beefed up version of his Western 8’6” 5 wt.

Very nice build! Does this rod have spigot ferrules or tip over type? Also in another post you mention that this rod feels nicer than the same blank in 8'5 wt - can you elaborate on that as I am currently looking for an 8' 5 wt glass blank.

thanks

Kbobb, thank you the blank has tip over butt ferrules. Dusty of ********* has a series of rods that are not his Western taper and are a little slower. In this series he has an 8’ 5 wt. which many people agree is a great casting rod. I like this new western 8’3” 5 wt. better than that rod. If your interested in a rod call Dusty he is very personable and likes to talk rod design I’m sure he would set you up with a great rod.

Lanny
