This rod just came off the bench.

It is a McFarland GTX 8'6" 6wt built on a "blem" blank. Pac Bay English Bronze guides with a Lemke reel seat.

And a reel pic, I'm not sure I like the black reel on this rod, but I like the looks and how the RR fishes.

Let me know if you can think of a good looking reel to pair with this rod for rod.

Awesome! Everything goes so well together: reel seat/hardware, wraps, and guides.

Very nice. Congrats on completing it.
Will it be pointing at Shad soon?

Zeppo, it's a bit light for shad. I'm sure it would take it, but those boats are brutal on rods, so I usually take rod that I don't mind it bouncing around a bit, or hooking into a large American Shad. I usually fish an 8wt.

Haven’t seen them up close and don’t know much about them , but thinking one of those new Sage Trout fly reels might match up nice with that build , at least as far as new stuff , or a Golden Hardy anything ???

Nice build Carl! Have you found a line you like it with? I like mine with SA expert distance wf6f, Orvis bass taper wf6f and the Orvis wf6i intermediate saltwater which is 3/4 line weight heavier than 6wt line. Also seems to throw a Orvis sinktip bank shot 6wt but haven’t fished it with that line yet. It’s a very versatile taper. Mine should be seeing a lot of schoolie stripers in a couple of months!

That's a nice looking rod. I really like the overall aesthetic.

Thanks, This rod was a nightmare to build (I think I redid everything at least once), but it turned out nicely.

For some reason, I'm not the biggest Hardy fan. They look good, but I think I would go with a JAF bronze reel if there was one that could handle a 6wt. I might try the Sage 106M or 108M. But maybe should check out a JLH.

yli 212 silk (in size #100) I think. It might have been YLI 224. The trim bands were colored with a prismacolor brown marker on the thread.

Very nice build on a great rod. I like the Ross just fine. A bronze Abel creek would also look great on the rod.

Such a good job I thing the Prisma was an actual thread. Nice color.
