I finished out a couple of what I think are two great tapers in Mike's huge library of taper designs.

This 8ft 6wt Parabolic is outstanding. Effortless casting, more distance, more line speed, easy on the shoulder. If you haven't cast, bought or fished this model you owe to yourself to try it.

And this 8'8" 4wt really needs no intro, just a super rod.

I really like the grip shape and the wrapping colors on the 4wt - the way the guide fee light up the ruby color is just kinda magical.

Although I have been a member of this forum for quite a while now, I had yet to post till today. My reasoning before I posted and shared my own thoughts or even offered an opinion was that I first wanted to read and learn as the wealth of information and knowledge on this forum is staggering. And to be honest I just enjoyed the numerous topics and pictures, especially pictures of when someone got a beautiful glass rod. I just wanted to wait until it was kind of special for my first post and today is the day!

Why? Because I just got a call from my wife letting me know that a particular 884 McFarland, the same beautiful glass rod posted in this thread, is sitting in my living room, waiting for me to come home from work…

Thank you Shane…now if only I can cut out of work early..

Congratulations. I have a few of Shane’s beautiful builds and they are all showstopper rods that fish like a dream. Share pics when you go fishing please!
