Here's a basic fishing toolset - an L.L.Bean 7' 5/6wt rod built by Timberline Rod Co, paired with an L.L.Bean Guide 5/6 reel made by Hardy. I really like some of the details - the penwork on the rod, the basic black reelseat, and the cursive branding on the reel. I've only had it out once but plan to get it on the water more in 2021.

Very nice! Would that be a Lami blank?

Very nice!! I have the spin fly version and have used it extensively. Mostly on trips to visit family in FL. I have taken some very nice largemouth and mayan cichlids with it. Would love to get a fly only version.

Sweet combo, I have the two piece version Timberline and agree the lettering is elegant and the clean, minimalist build is beautiful.
I need to match it up with a reel that looks as good as yours. Well done.

That's a very nice pairing. Just looking at them makes you smile, but knowing how well they fish will make you smile even more. Enjoy.

Love this “basic toolset.” I just bought an LL Bean GQS (Hardy Marquis) 6/7 from a nice forum member to pair with my vintage Browning Silaflex 322980.

That’s Awesome Rod , I have the same one as you
The LL bean 7 ft Rods were the same as the Timberline “Yellowstone“ fly rod
And the same blank was also used on the
Timberline “Sierra” Spin/Fly Rods
Timberline also sold build it yourself kits as well
Those Lami Blanks Bill used are so butter.
Such great flex but it can Still boom it out there and is not afraid to take on anything from Brookies to Bronzebacks Big Bows and Bigmouth Bass.
I love my Timbos..

Jeffsod that Bass is beast mode ..
What line do you throw on yours?
I throw Cortland 333 WF5 and I also use Scientific Anglers “panfish” 5/6
Tight lines

I have two Pflueger reels setup that I use on this rod and both have Cortland fly lines that are 6wts. The one in the photo is different but I do know the other reel has this line in the photo setup on it. I didn't purchase this particular fly line it was a raffle prize but it does work on the rod.

Jeffsod
That Cortland “big fly” line is Dang good
I had some in Wf7 on a Garcia rod that I had
I’m going to have to try some 6wt line on my timberland this season with some Small cicada patterns this year.

I enjoyed this morning tossing a 5wt line on my Bill Franke (Timberline) built LL Bean rod along with a Hardy LRH reel.. I think a 6wt line is better but the 5wt performed well. I also switched half way with my Tica Libra reel. Fly line for the light offerings and spin for the lures. This rod's action surprisingly is not a light spin action but more of a medium. The thread work is impeccable. Although my rod has the older spin guided it has no notable effect on using fly line. It is a good combo rod and a nice lami blank.
