A ********* 4wt that’s been sitting in my studio for the last year or more, awaiting the fruition of a buildout along a theme of a “working man’s/woman’s” rod, what ever that means; guess I could have just epoxied on cigar bands for the guide wraps (you heard that here first, foks!) and call it "Love Story”, as in DONE!

Anyway…..,I opted for a regular stripping guide as opposed to a mildrum I typically gravitate towards in my builds, and have been toying with this thought of using micarta for a reel seat rather than exotic woods. A sliding nickel silver band and the tapered grip contributes to this simplicity.

The wraps were a result of trying to find another aesthetic other than standard "best practices" in wraps, trim bands and finishes. I was thinking utility, a Japanese sense of delicacy, silk thread hand tied affixing guides to a nude colorless blank.

Thanks for taking a look.

Your plan turned out well! The transition ring from grip to blank is another nice detail.

Have to join in with a WOW!

Really appreciate the unique thread wraps. The simple aesthetic is the most challenging to pull off.

Well done

Now that is "different" in a good way. That is way cool, classy, unique and beautifully simple, yet elegant.

Commenting late on this one, I know. But when I stumbled across this, I had to bookmark it. I love the unconventional wraps-anything outside the box, that is truly functional is how we drive this art forward, and keep it from stagnating.
Awesome build!
