Does anyone have pictures of a Steffen Brothers rod?
I would like to see the finish on a rod that was built by them.

Thanks

To clarify, are you wanting a photo of a rod built on a Steffen blank, or a rod specifically built by Steffen?

The rod in the photo was built by the Steffens Bros. I bought it new and asked for the slide band reel seat. They were reluctant but complied. It is an 8’ for a number 4 line.

Duff
Thanks for the photo.
It shows me what I was wanting to see.
I wanted to see what the finish on the blank looked like.
I have an 8' 4/5 on there work schedule.

Thanks again

I started to put up a picture of my Steffen 8' 4/5 rod, but I had just ordered a pizza for my grandson and had to go pick it up, then forgot about it until now. Glad Duff had his handy. I think you will like your Steffen when it arrives. Steffens are rather highly thought of around here.

"They were reluctant but complied."

Wow, not sure who "they" are but I wanted a specific reel seat, cap and ring with cork, and I spoke with Mark and he was more than willing to use it. I ordered the one I wanted and had it shipped directly to him. That was a while back and maybe things have changed.

Here are some photos of my Steffen 3/4 in poor lighting. You can tell by the cork that this is my favorite rod for small/medium size streams. This is Mark’s standard Lemke reel seat. You won’t be disappointed with his build quality.

Riffling Hitch, “they” are just Mark. I bought my Steffen years ago and I guess Mark didn’t feel a slide band was appropriate for an 8’ rod back then. It was simply an opinion, nothing more.

Gotta say Duff , reluctant or not , that slide band seat looks like an absolute perfect compliment on that rod , in color , style and every other asthetic ... Beautiful combo ...

.

Adding a photo of a recently acquired Steffen 8ft 3/4wt three piece. This showed up on the used rack at the local fly shop recently though it doesn't look like it saw much if any use. I like the thread wraps for checking fish length at twelve and sixteen inches. A nice touch. The rod also came with the factory sock and tube. I have owned a variety of fiberglass fly rods over the years but this is my first Steffen glass fly rod. Looking forward to getting some fish with it.
