Hardy Bougle' 3" on a Steffen Bros. 8045-3. The match with Lemke reel seat hardware is especially nice:

I agree they have to belong together in both looks and balance.I have a few combos that look bad but the more modern reels with silky drags are for the times i never know what i may hook and need that drag but they look mismatched as functional as the pairing may be.Black or gunmetal reels go with most rods and silver and gray a close second.I usually hate gold reels of any kind.I find them to be bad luck .I do have a small wright mcgill granger gold reel that is the perfect si*e and balance for a 5'9 CGR i am using for casting lessons for a couple family members. The first person who takes to the flyrod can have it.I have thrown a couple gold spinning reels in the lake after several unexplained mishaps. They are a curse in my hands,

Here she is again with a fish on (old school Orvis Clearwater clicker mounted in this photo)!

And, of course, my old standby: Orvis SFG #4 with the Ross Gunny.

I like a more modern reel, and I think they often look nice with a glass rod.

Here's a Ross Evolution LT paired with a ********* 864 on the Firehole. I really like these two together.

And here they are together again on the banks of the Gardner.

Holdover's SB 323 and Martin combo does it for me.
Here's one I paired up with a Cascapedia just for the day and the line.

I'm still particularly pleased with the Heddon 300 and 4 weight Prime, but I think the others are awfully pretty as well.

The orange backing is a nice touch too, especially with an olive line.

Beautiful stuff, Sir! The San Miguel would look good hanging off a gnarled tree limb.
