Hello
All the rods you have posted are super.
The prototype must be priceless.
I am wondering are all the rods from your collection.
If so you have a one of a kind collection going.
Seems some should be in the fly fishing museum.
Thanks for posting them really nice.
Tight Lines and Prototype Loops.

what a great looking rod. i love that yellow on yellow. superb.
it would be interesting to try to reproduce a rod with those colors and style of build. a honey lami or one of the yellow glass fenwicks might make a good blank to start with.

The 1953 Presentation Wonderwand was obviously an homage to Dr. Howalds original rods.
Dr. Howald never liked the white color of the Wonderods, but Mr. Shakespeare wanted his new Wonderods to stand out and you can bet that anglers could spot these new white rods on the rivers and lakes a mile away! He used the same technique in the 1920's when all of his competitors had baits and reels in gray/brown cardboard boxes. He chose tangerine and blue so that his boxes would stand out from his competitors. It was a very effective marketing strategy.
Dr. Howald also specified a much smaller tip than Shakespeare was willing to make at first. The standard Wonderod tip at that time was 5/64ths (a fine tip by any standard, even bamboo) but the Presentation rod has a delicate 3/64ths tip! And the yellow wraps match the wraps of Dr. Howalds prototypes.
The 1953 Shakespeare catalog states that Dr. Howald called the Presentation a "dream rod". The price in 1953 was $150.00!

He is right,
It is a dream rod. I've been dreaming about it since you posted the pictures.
Thanks again
Paul

Wow, what a beautiful rod.
Tip size ... I just got a 1270T in the mail, can't believe what a small diameter tip it has!
