I finished this rod last week and fished it once so far. In comparison with my other two piece 7' #3 Lami, it has a bit more stable tip-otherwise, the flex-profile is almost identical.

Very nice! That's beautiful.

But we want DETAILS!

#1 - Color of thread and what finish did you use?

#2 - That's an amazing reel seat. Brand and wood species?

#3 - Did you custom turn the handle? I've seen that shape at Golden Witch. I like the idea of the forward swell.

Great work. From the fitting of the seat, cork and winding check to the color and design of the wraps to the overall appearance, it's an awesome rod!

Thanks guys-here's the details ...

Lamiglas doesn't make 4 pc blanks any more, and this was an older Clemens blank. While the two piece blanks are built on different mandrels to accomodate tip over butt ferrules, I believe this blank has slightly different taper than the current 3 or 6 piece models. It has larger tip calibrations (it took size 7 tip), so the finished rod flexes little less towards the butt and has less bouncy tip in comparison to the 2 piece model.

I think the multi piece Lami blanks are the way to go, even though I noticed the recent jump in their prices ...

The main wraps are gold, tipped with orange-black Classic Twist, finished with Threadmaster Lite and Threadmaster. The guides are H&H bronze with bronze Pac bay lite wire stripper. I used Damon reel seat with buckeye burl insert. I decided on the screw-lock seat, since I built it as a back-up rod and wanted it to accomodate different reels. I got several Golden Witch handles awhile ago and used them all up-this was the last one.

Regards,
Vlad

You do beautiful work! Let the fiberglass revolution begin! (or has it already?) I'm seeing way more fiberglass rods on the rivers than I did a couple of years ago
