Three rods with common heritage linked to Tom Morgan:

1) Winston Leetle Feller 7.5ft #3/4 (1974)

2) Winston Stalker 7.5ft #4 (1975 probably)

3) Tom Morgan Rodsmiths ‘Mini Stalker’ 6.9ft #3 (the blank is the Japanese 'L' version). Rod built by my friend Nico of Yamame rods (2019). After lawn casting I think I prefer it with a #2 line as it feels so crisp and has no tip bounce at all. Maybe when fishing my opinion might change.

Some great history there, plus modern excellence. Thanks for showing!

$75, I'll take one of each!!

I had the pleasure of hanging out with Harry at his home, less than a year before his passing. I went specifically to meet him and get him to sign my copy of "Catskill Fly Tyer." The funny part of the story was I stopped at Walt Dette's shop first and not really knowing either him of Harry by sight, I asked Walt if he was Harry Darbee...

If you knew Walt you could imagine the reaction before he told me where to go ;) to find Harry's house.

Harry was a total gentleman as was Tom (Walt was OK too!)

Great letter!!

The Stalker's original price would be around $400 today. Still a steal!

I think $75 in '74 is around $700 today.

https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ More like $400, but within a given market, various labor, material and manufacturing costs could make any one typical item have a lower or higher price than a straight inflation calc reveals. Probably higher in the case of near custom, small production, high quality fly rods.
