From the "Collecting" board:

Finally rounded out my collection of the original black Diamondglass 3-piece rods today with the arrival of the DG805-3 that I purchased from a member of the board here (thanks Jim!)! The first acquisition was a 703-3 blank that I built up about 7 years ago. Then, three years later, I found a pristine 864-3 in a consignment rack in a flyshop while on a business trip; with the 5wt arriving today.

They have all been and will continue to be fished, though it looks like some cork cleaning is in order this winter.

Vintage Warwick Striper Reels

And in the middle the latest addition. Farm fresh with a good heavy dirt patina to boot

There are some very subtle differences if you look closely. Such as the pawl location, the center screw size, the knob color (red being later variations), one is numbered inside and one has an adjustable drag which was not supposed to be an option on this model.

Jeff,
Real nice collection. Do you have any pics of the internals? I have the "Royal" by Warwick. Very simple, strong reels that I have used for fishing the salt in my area. Great collection.
Respectfully rvreclus

Thanks guys.

I think I have a photo of the internals somewhere though probably not on the forum. If you search the archives for Warwick there are a couple of shots inside. These reels can be tricky to photograph with the reflective qualities of the aluminum finish. I found the current season's low sun angle to be good timing for taking photos of them.
