Another principle of design is known as the golden proportion. Was it irony that you chose GOLDEN eagles to start the thread

Hmm. . . the "golden proportion" rule is a new concept to me, swalker. Wikipedia has an interesting write up of the "Golden Ratio" and its use in math and the arts that's way over my head, but two things were of note:

(1) The perfect balance is denoted by the greek letter "Phi". Hmm. . . could this explain our affinity to "Phi"-llipson rods?

(2) And it describes the golden ratio as an "irrational mathematic constant." Wow, I could really use this to my advantage when talking to my wife, "Honey, I know that the number of my rods and reels makes no sense to you, but the 'Golden rule' says the right number doesn't have to." Image

BTW, T&T Connolly, that is an outstanding family of Heirlooms! And the Hardy siblings mate quite nicely.

And Ron, just when I thought I was over my red agated reel lust, there you go tempting us!

A couple more I found in my photo archives:

Orvis Far & Fine & Fine & Fine

And there's just something that seems right about a 3 piece rod.

My real name happens to be Herman Berman, and someone stole that Cummings Ultimate 8'er from me in the late 70s. Be a sport and send it back to its rightful owner. Image

Oh by the way, I also go by the alias, Ambrose Matelski.

Herman Berman also owned an eight-foot Paul H. Young rod, showing he had good taste in both glass and cane.
