When I worked at Bob Mitchell's Fly Shop for 12 years, the owner originated this pattern for the Sulphur hatches on the nearby Kinnickinnic River, so it was named the Kinni Sulphur. Some years we sold up to 75 dozen of them throughout the summer, and I tied 98% of them. For the past few years I have been tying them for another local fly shop, Lund's Fly Shop in River Falls, WI, only now I tie both the original, with a tan or cream colored post, and this Hi-Viz version, with an orange or hot pink colored post. They are all tied on a size 16 hook. I am not good at math, but if I do a quick estimate in my brain, I figure I have tied somewhere between 15,000 and 4 billion of them...

That looks like half the flies in my fly boxes...

That's because decades ago I stopped tying dry fly "patterns" and instead opted to tie three different styles for everything (excluding terrestrials), varying only in size & color.

So it's a parachute pretty much exactly like Kinni Sulphur or a thorax fly for all mayflies and an EWC for all caddis & stoneflies.

Except I have tied a billion yet... ;)

Nice fly!!
