Hope this doesn’t offend anyone’s retro sensibilities. My warmwater fly tying has devolved to mostly using foam and craft fur to make these monstrosities. I’m experimenting with clear gorilla glue for a protective coating to make the foam last longer.

Here’s something even more offensive - foam bugs in a regular old Plano tackle box.

Nice warm water ties. Those would definitely catch fish here in Georgia. I like the idea of the gorilla glue clear coat. On the gray bugs, is that red palmer chenille behind the foam?

The plano tacklebox really brings the whole room together, dude. The red is palmer chenille to approximate a hackle/gills/blood. How are you getting the scale pattern?

The double barrel poppers were tied by Flymen. They use a plastic wrap with the scale pattern, but I don’t think they sell the wrap separately for tying your own. When I get around to tying some double barrel poppers, I’ll probably try Charlie Craven’s airbrush technique - see below.

That is an interesting way to do airbrushing. I’m not sure the results are better or faster than using Prismacolor markers and blending the colors, but it looks fun.

This ridiculously simple smolt pattern with craft fur works ridiculously well for smallmouth.

Cool. I like craft fur because of how well it moves and sheds water. It’s easier to cast with lighter gear than something like rabbit strips.

yep, me too. I tie this particular pattern with craft fur, arctic fox, and finn raccoon. The craft fur one works the best.

Here’s one I call The Missing Link, since it is a minnow with legs. Really just a craft fur clouser with barred rubber legs.

Craft stores have some great materials for making flies. Bee patterns have been a favorite of mine for bass & panfish since I was a kid. This is just thin foam sheets yellow & brown or black glued together, stamping out rough plugs with a plug cutter & shaping bodies with sandpaper or Dremel tool

That fur makes good salmon eggs also.
