Platte River Special with a few modifications: Daiichi 2051 hook, orange tubing (a la Charlie Craven), and jungle cock (just because it looks good) ;)

Cool fly. Here's a photo of Bob Jacklin's version. Somewhere in one of his slideshows is a photo of him releasing an 8lb brown on the Yellowstone, he caught with one.

Yellow flies are popular on Montana's Big Hole river too, with patterns including the Yellow Yummie and Lyle's Special.

Nice tie! I usually fish the soft hackle version. Jungle cock is a nice touch!

Edit: you guys inspired me to tie one of my own. I thought an intruder-style rig would fit this pattern well.

I can already picture angry browns smashing this fly come fall!

Thanks guys! This is another cool pattern with a lot of yellow - and a lot of movement from all the marabou, the Platte River Spider.

Nice ties, Robert! I might need to tie a black or gray version of the Platte River Spider for our river bass here in Georgia. Looks very fishy.
