I tied a tried and true pattern, caught my first bass on this fly, I got it from a forum fly swap. Enjoy.

Nice. I find Mickey Finns are also awesome for Brook and Brown trout. I have a host of them in sizes from #4 - #12.

I live in South Texas they work on the fish down here. We have a bass called a Guadalupe Bass and they eat a similar diet for their lifetime that trout do. They only get 14” long full grown, they are a desert fish and fight real well on a glass 4wt. But most of our river and creek bass have this characteristic.

I tie what I call “The Dixie Finn” from time to time.
Basically it’s just a variation using chartreuse, white, and black in different combinations.
I work in a little red at the throat, too.

Why those colors?
Because here in the South, we have a saying:

“If it ain’t chartreuse, it ain’t no use.”
