My first attempt at tying a fly. I don't know, maybe it will stab a few bream in the face.

Bream is a generic term for bluegill, pumpkinseed, shellcracker, etc etc... I actually never heard it until I moved to the southeast.. I grew up calling a bluegill a bluegill in IL.. we have so many different species of sunfish in NC.. I guess they decided to lump them under bream..

Nice fly. I know what you mean about calling everything bream. In Texas we call all sunfish "perch" even though we don't have any actual perch in the state.

Pretty good effort and, I think, a good choice for a first attempt. Way back when, the first flies I tied were the Wooly Worm and the Montana Nymph. Both easy patterns to tie and both caught fish.

Nice! Good proportions and you didn't crowd the head. I tie those in the same colour in big sizes for pike.

Nice first tie,you will be surprised at what a fish will eat and the most painstaking detail tie will get the middle fin,Its a great hobby and with the internet there are so many good vids and SBS as well as 100s of good books. In Illinois we call all sunfish bluegills,I 've caught at least 7 different species and countless hybrids. Some call crappies croppies.i love the different names in different regions.I will never forget talking to an elderly couple at Lake Okeechobee going on and on about goggle eyes and speckled perch and how they won their Ranger Bass boat catching a tagged spec during Crappiethon.

That’s your first? Then you are doing well. As others have said already—nice proportions and no crowding the eye. Those are difficult skills to get right early on.

Nice work.

Thanks for all the kind words. I am excited to dive deep into this wonderful art. Living in NC gives me the opportunity to tie all kinds of patterns.. trout to tarpon(that is if you are in the right place at the right time)

Very nice. Will definitely work for sunfish. I would never have the guts to post my first fly on a message board.
