A variation of an old favorite. Locally here we tie these with dyed calftail tails and flat waxed nylon thread. Tied in sizes 4 through 10 with black, white, yellow and brown bodies and chartreuse, yellow and orange legs, tails and thread.

Nice variation of the fly that has probably caught more fish than any other.Once caught 6 stocked rainbow trout in 7 casts on a foam spider. All over 15 inches from a private club. Some of the members told the person i was a guest of we had to keep 3 and stop fishing.I have probably caught a few thousand bluegills on them.Even caught a couple bullheads on one tattered bug that no longer floated.

I'll have to try that calftail addition.

I like the looks of that.
I just found out that in Mo. that isn't legal in our fly only areas or catch and release areas. But it can be fished in the bait only trout areas. Any elastic material is now forbidden in the fly zones.

I used to fish Bennett Spring 3 or 4 time a year but haven't been there in five years. How are the foam beatles that they fish in zone two legal?
