I encourage you to roll the dice on a unique variant Hen Saddle. The results can be pretty awesome.

Also check out Spawn Fly Fish for all your tying needs. Great guys running a business right.

Game changers are awesome. I caught a nice bass not too long ago.

This simple fly is good in the drought. Its a coyote hair clouser minnow. Simple and effective fly caught this 15inch Guadalupe bass

A small #8 seaducer placed in the strike zone of a fish can catch large fish. All flies need to be placed in that cover.

beetles..

used to have rubber legs, but those seemed a bit stiff to me. Trying pheasant tail fibres, remains to be seen if they will be durable enough. Caught about a dozen smaller fish on the first try, and the legs held out..

Nice Doug,Simple ties are great abd if they dont hold up just bring a bunch.strip the hook and rebuild.I just cleaned out several fly boxes and stripped the material off a couple dozen hooks. Most were barbless dries and barbless 60 degree jig hooks with tung beads. Some flies were trashed some were some ugly proto types

Just getting back to the basics....a few bucktail deceiver variants.

Tails from top to bottom:
1. saddle hackle
2. goat
3. saddle hackle/SF

I've been really liking how well the goat moves in the water even if it doesn't shed water quite as easily as some synthetics (like SF blends)...it still cast super easy (at least the singles with it).

A few months ago I found a couple boxes of these cool old Mustad keel hooks - no longer made. They’re supposed to ride hook up without weight. Playing around with some simple buck tails.

Partridge and orange--a real classic. Nicely tied.

I've been tying up some orange lately too, in anticipation of the October caddis hatch. Here's an October caddis stimulator variant I am hopeful about this year:

Have you tried knotting them? It's a common technique in the UK for legs on a variety of flies. I have made a few, but am still in the testing phase.

Good stuff ! Inspiring work.

Saw the Charlie Boy Hopper variation on Avidmax's feed a while back. I gave it a try and had some good results. A few more using MFC foto foam and Ahrex hooks, both size 10. One pair with FW571 long dry, and the other with FW531 sedge dry.
