Yes it is. It's the thin packaging foam they package fruits with.

Here are a couple gurglers I tied up for panfish. These two were on a #10. Lots of fun to tie and I plenty more colorways I want to try.

Image

Caught a couple pumpkinseed on this one already.

Keeping with the gurgler theme. I wanted to try a mouse pattern and tied up these two on a #2 B10S.

Just got to find some time to tie up some more for panfish and bass.

was on a trip in the NY Northcountry with Dad this past week.
our first time up there in the Fall.
took a while to discover what the trout wanted, but this tie did the trick.

You guys do nice. :-)

Nice ties Corey. They are classic!

Isonychia is my favorite hatch to fish. I've had good luck fishing a royal coachman wet, zug bug, prince.

Raspberry, are those tied with squirrel hair? They are super buggy. They look like fish-catchers to me.

thanks!
The Iso is a great dry for me in early Fall,
but Ive never fished it wet.

on the dry, the black wing, dark purple/maroon body can be tough to track on all but the stillest slicks at dusk, however.

ive heard that herl-bodied flies do well as an Iso immitation before. Interesting...

I did nab a few at dusk with a "quack" dry - which is like a royal coachman, but with a white deer hair wing vs a feather. Lots easier to see!

My Dad did fish a Picket Pin for a while this weekend as one of his trio, but the trout seemed to really want that purple/maroon body and black everything else.

Ive never encountered fishing where the trout were so selective with wet pattern before. Same place in Spring, they literally gobble-up whatever you drift by their holding spot correctly; not so this Fall. Maybe they get smarter as the season progresses? Or, more likely, only the inherantly smart ones are left!

Corey, LOL! I used to clean up with a #10 Picket Pin on the Esopus below the iron bridge at Boiceville. Esopus has great Isonychias in spring and fall. The dry flies that work best for me when the slate drake is on the water is a Flick style Dun Variant, and in the pocket water, a Hairwing Royal Coachman. The HWRC is a rainbow slayer!

Yes squirrel, with a little flash dubbing. The guard hair are laid into a dubbing loop, spun and then wrapped as if it is a hackle.

California captain (apologies for the dirty nail ha) - this handsome fellow worked very well on trout in lakes in the Sierras as well as streams of WNC.

bmbailes:

Beautiful work. I noticed your fugly packer in the background, a great recent boon to deer hair tiers.

bmbailes,

Very nice hair work!

Just whipped a few flies this afternoon before I went fishing, since I love fishing with fresh ties:

Great control of the material, absolutely WOW. All 3 are great, but I would always tying on the mouse first.

Sorry poor quality of my img.

I tied a few of these flies a friend of mine introduced to me from Gacka River ( Croatia )
Image

Fly name is Netopir Fly .

Famous fly fisherman Marian Fratnik made know to everybody,...Here in Europe !
Just " cul de canard " feathers tied on by the tip, beginning close hook bend.
Several feathers may occur, until you reach hook ring.

Every turn you have to comb back fibers.

I love this fly,Imitating an adult caddis,...Just make it skate over the surface.

Ahem,..Dressing is a bit modified by me, adding a partridge feather near the head,...

Greetings from a foggy Italy !

Uncle Ben

Peacock and partridge? Works in so many ways, I've caught fish from Florida to Colorado with those.

Agreed on the effectiveness of that fly...I used quail as my hackle on that one.
