Man ya'll are tying up some great stuff. Popper's and crawfish looking reel good. Seeing the poppers reminded me I need some. The Bett's poppers of made these days, at least the ones I have bought have not been that great sinking and or falling apart. I like to do a popper dropper kinda thing; popper with about a two foot length of tippet to a San Juan Worm, jumbo john or rio getter. Bass on top and rios on the dropper, its all fun and games until you double up that way and pound or so bass angry at being hooked goes after a 4 inch rio.

Those catskills look awesome too especially on the up eye hook.

There is something about a catskill dry that just looks so right. Beautiful ties. Thanks

Mike Valla's book is excellent. Nice job on your Catskill dries.

A friend of mine who ties a fair bit with buck tail recently informed me that he never uses the base of his tails, so naturally I had to whip something up using buck tail he sent....can't wait to fish it. Cheers!

Musky....well, Tiger Musky. They're surprisingly light weight because the fibers near the base are often hollow. Plus I use far less material on these than it appears.

.

Yellow perch muddler based on Jack Gartsides pattern muddled soft hackle deceiver (tying steps in the link). Need to get a better photo of this fly but this is what I have for now. I got creative with the permanent markers on this one...

I've really enjoyed tying a klink style fly over the last few weeks.

Also some Sz 24 baetis for those picky tailwater trout.

Inspired by some of the early long shank flies, I’m surprised how well these oddities actually catch fish. Bead up front, and with a counterweight in the back...tracks level that way.

That's a way cool streamer design and weighting innovation. It deserves its own name.

These were fun to tie. A take on the Gartside Muddled Soft Hackle Deceiver. Hope the fish like them.

Those look great! If you can try using a sinking line even if its just an intermediate sink.

Yours and the link shared inspired me. I did test 3 of them them in the lake, just to see how they move. They stay just below the surface on the strip and tend to rise if they can. Don’t know if I tested them long enough to get waterlogged. Really impressed with how they look swimming.

I do have a teeny line and a couple of intermediate lines. I could see them being effective with floating line, but the situation would dictate that.

Definitely the style of flies will work with both types of lines but sometimes the sinking line combo is the ticket to get strikes. The fly sinks on the retrieve and rises when you stop.

Getting a little water testing/casting practice in with the new Gartside muddled soft hackle deceiver...this 5+ # LMB went for the olive one. Fished on the floating Monic Henley Phantom Tip with my 7/8 weight CGR.
