Well ... Cornmuse referenced the article that he graciously ran on the midge flies that I use on his Fly Fish Ohio website and I thought that I would post a few photographs here and hopefully others can build off of it as well.

These are my go to flies on all rivers that are more or less a midge fishery.

Wire Rib Thread Midges:

Red and Black are the two best colors I've used ... but tan, white, and brown also work nice. A copper rib is sometimes used with those colors instead of a silver wire rib.

Krystal Flash Midges:

Again ... black and red are the go to colors, but pearl, gold, and silver have their days as well.

I tie these in two colors ... brown and grey, but started tying a few in a dun color that looks great as well. The krystal flash wing really gets the fish going sometimes.

The three main colors I use are brown, black, and grey.

Vinyl Rib Midge:

I just started tying these vinyl rib midges this past spring. Don't worry about getting all the vinyl rib colors since if you use a thread color body under the Clear or Grey vinyl rib the color will show through in a very nice way.

The only issues I've had with using vinyl rib is that I can only tie them down to about size 22 without them looking a little to fat and not as slender as I like.

Let's see of yours ...

I know scud dog has a few to share once he gets a camera.

Great flies guys!

Here is my contribution ...

Stuck in shuck midge (uses a single CDC puff and little dubbing -proved itself many times on Driftless area spring creeks)

Image

Adult midge or microcaddis (depending on the thread color)-uses a single CDC feather and the tying thread.
