Just curious to see what reel seats you all have used for large butt sections on some of the rod builds.

I recently bought a NFC 10wt blank to build and I’m currently looking for reel seats. I have built some rods in the past with a thick butt section and from what I recall the options were limited. I want to say the butt section is 15mm from the specs online.

Never built on an NFC blank, but you might take a look on Rick’s Rods, a vintage site. They often have Varmac reel seats that offers both fly and spin reel seats with large diameter bores.

The Lemke All metal LC20, 25 and 26 will all work with that butt od, I have even done the insert style with an acceptable bore for the LC26 skeleton, also the 687 and 740 all metal titaniums will work

Several all-metal reel seats are large enough to accommodate that size. Just double-check the ID before you purchase.

Where did you find those inserts? The biggest I’ve seen is only .420

Most would use an all metal seat with a blank like that, but if you want a wood insert with a Lemke skeleton, I'd reach out to Ron at Southwest Custom Rods and have him turn you an insert with a bore that will mate up with that blank. The LC-20 will work, but I'd go with 25 or 26 for that blank.

Stent is another option

If you get a hold of Ray Lee, RL Reelseats, on ebay he'll make you a reelseat with any bore, length and wood you like.

Another vote for Ron at Southwest Custom , Ray Lees products are nice too , like others have stated , more options with metal , if going other , it’s probably stent time …
