I’m planning my lightest rod build yet, a J. Green 6’9” 2wt, and I want to keep the build components as light as possible. I’m using a slide band reel seat with cork insert from Proof and a 0.25” diameter solid fiberglass stent to attach the reel seat.
Because the reel seat is cork, I think the stent will need to run the full 3.75” inside the reel seat. What is the shortest length I should use for the stent as it travels into the blank under the grip? I would normally go about 3.5” into the blank with the stent, but would ~2” be secure enough for a 2wt?
