Are those blanks marked in any way?I have a built 8 foot 8wt that i was told is Lamiglass but no way to tell, just what i was told. The blank is the same color as yours. The spigot gap is almost 0.I cast it a little but the fit did not seem secure after a few casts and i did not want to damage it.Was just going thru some tubes in the back of a closet and started thinking about it again.I have other rods i use in this length/weight and want to find it a new home and don't want to misrepresent it as i really don;t know if it is a Lamiglass or not.Whoever built it did a nice job.I just don;t trust the ferrule for bass bugging.

Where do you guys find this stuff! :eek
I would love an uncut 6'6" lamiglas.
Personally I'd build it out 1 pc, that thing would be a delight!

Cheffy any way to identify the Lami blanks other than color? A 1 piece 6 footer 6.5 or even 7 would be awesome.I only have 2 1 piece fly rods.I wish more were available.I might have to find some 1 piece blanks and have them made.

I have enough rods to cover almost any situation, but I’m still jealous!

Something to watch for on uncut blanks - ferrule stations. Sometimes the blank wall thickness is made thicker for spigots or metal ferrules. The thicker wall reinforces the blank to better match the stiffness of the spigot or ferrule. Occasionally these are easy to find just by feeling the blank. Occasionally they are found by careful micrometer measurement. Often the blank does not have a ferrule station.

I have a couple of Lamiglas uncut graphite blanks that have two very obvious ferrule stations (9 foot, 3 piece design). Garcia Conolon steel spigoted rods had very prominent ferrule stations. Spigot ferruled Lamiglas blanks don't have prominent ferrule stations (if they have them at all). If any of your blanks have obvious ferrule stations, it probably wise to use them.

Cheffy ,
Thanks so much for hooking me up with the Phillipson rod you scored !

Good luck on your winter projects! :)
My winter project is to fish for big Fallfish!
I’m already getting started …

Can’t wait to see your builds from this batch!
