Does anyone known who might have made this reel seat? Also do you think it is pre-war? It is on a 9ft bamboo 10.3oz, 3 piece, 8-10wt rebuild. The only markings on it say "Steelhead Special 9ft". I got the rod because it looks like a heavier line weight rod and it has the burgundy wraps that match up to my South Bend 1190 made in 1935 only. (Hardy Prefect clone)

No worries. since the rod is bamboo, you might post your question over at classic fly rod forum (http://classicflyrodforum.com) - they have an appraisal and identification section.

Pocketed seats prevailed at that time. I think that one is replacement, and a much more recent machined aluminum seat in a style that gained popularity from about 1980 on (just as machined seats did). Don't recognize the brand, but I bet someone will--even if it does prove to be older.

Whripool; very good observation! That would may sense if the base piece is a machined one piece bar stock.
