Does anybody know what is happening to the fiberglass fly rod blanks? Some of the companies that I shop are running out of stock and staying out of stock. Does anybody know why?
Thank you
Derek

Welcome to the forum!

Which companies? I know Lamiglas has been out of stock for awhile.

Derek, I think you are asking a general question that has a very general answer: for the same reasons many industries and businesses, large or small, are experiencing difficulties meeting demand and maintaining inventory, disrupted supply chains being just one of them. Other than that, it's best to contact individual manufacturers or their sellers. There will be more specific reasons, but second hand versions and analysis in a discussion here probably won't help turn up the blank(s) you want.

On the other hand, good blanks are available, so if you can't find the one you had wanted, you might start another post to ask about alternatives that would be similar.

Yes, I realize that. I hope that it was not affecting rod blanks. I was looking at Get Bent and Proof. I sent out messages to both companies. I am just frustrated.

Derek,

Both Proof and Get Bent still have blanks in stock. Maybe not the complete line for either, but there are quite a few options. Iconoglass blanks are still offered at a low price also.

Fiberglass is a bigger deal than it was in 2005. But compared to graphite, the glass market is small. Our suppliers don't have thousands of additional blanks back in the warehouse. Glass orders are small and won't get priority at the blank rolling plants. Building on glass requires patience in many ways.

Meanwhile, what are you trying to build?
