The traditional quick fix for loose ferrules is to add a layer of paraffin wax or beeswax to the male ferrule before assembling the rod. Hopefully that will tighten the ferrule fit and allow you to fish the rod. The long term fix would be to replace the ferrules, but that probably wouldn't be cost effective on a 2454. A forum search will turn up a lot of information on the 2454. This was one of the lower priced Garcia Conolon rods, but that doesn't mean it's not a fun rod to fish. I own several 8ft Garcia Conolons including a 2637A, S-637A, and an 8237-A. I normally fish these rods with a WF6.
