I'm wondering what effect you are after around the hook keeper. Could be more tidy. Then again, I have at least 6 thumbs, sometimes 7 and don't even attempt fancy wraps. Some stick-ups downstream but those shave off after the first coat. If anybody will notice craftsmanship subtleties (usually they won't), it will be at that end of the rod. Keep on trucking' man.
