Anyone know the color match for the red guide wrap and yellow under wraps on a Harnell 652 fly rod? Is it possible to preserve the gold mylar underneath spiral wraps framing the Harnell name in front of the grip?

You might remove the thread from the mylar without damage, but again you might not. Much like replacing wraps, if some mylar is damaged you should probably replace all of it. Search for "gold mylar tape" and you will find a large number of potential vendors.

Off the top of my head I would try Scarlet and Lemon Yellow for the thread colors. As usual, your finish will affect the final color.

If you are removing the wraps anyway, try cutting along the top of a guide foot. Then peel the old thread off as if you were peeling bark from a birch tree. The color you see on the inside of the old wraps is much closer to the original color.
