Trying to recall fly rod tube companies that could possibly provide components like the screw top component.

What I really want is a tube piece with regular screw top and screw coupler that could connect a tube extension. Basically a tube that can allow longer rods by adding on an extension to a regular rod rube.

REC? Any others to consider to reach out and contact?

Landmark components. I have had good experiences with him but forget his name.

Like your concept.

Over the years I’ve purchased and used a lot of rod tubes from Clear Creek. Quality tubes and nice folks.

Thanks! Landmark is cimpany i was trying to recall. I switch rods based on hiking or purpose so a tube extension provides flexibility without buying extra rod tubes.

Coupler can be used for many rods etc... especially for those who buy sell rods a lot.

Landmark is good ol’ Ron, who is VERY used to odd requests from rod builders.

Ron said he can not do. I was hoping he or someone could do give relative ease in making a coupler and what sounds like demand given positive comments here...

If I had a large bore drill to make hole in 2 of the rod tube caps and weld them together then vould have my coupler.

Sleeve one tube inside another to make a telescoping case? The coupler idea doesn't strike me as being much fun to use for a couple reasons, mainly inconvenience, but a machine shop near you can build you one pretty easily.

Telescoping cases breaks rods. Dont ask how I know :).

An extension is what I need so useful for me.

“Telescoping cases break rods.”
I just had a close call with an old Flambeau telescoping case that had a blank hiding inside of it.
That got me thinking I’d be interested in a telescoper with a positive locking system; definitely interested to see what the OP comes up with for his extension idea.

Adjustable tubes surely need to be locking.
PVC is cheap enough that I'd rather have one for each rod, with a label telling me what it is.

I wonder if a 3D printer could make a plastic coupler?

Trev, super helpful. I've been looking for some generic tubes for a few vintage rods I have. Thanks.

My solution to that issue is to use a Fenwick plastic triangular rod tube that will hold up to 8 1/2 ft rods and anything shorter will fit into it. My rods range from 6 1/2 ft to 8 ft for the most part. It is also nice because you can fit 2 rods into it, nose to tail.

Pave, I love triangular tubes for the obvious reason they don’t roll. I use a TFO triangle tube the same way, fitting 2 rods in it. Where would a fellow locate one of those long Fenwick triangulars for a 2pc 8.5’?
