I just got a Haldin 57 and started to cut off the end and install a stent for the reel seat. The solid fiberglass rod material that I have used on several rods is obviously too large. What I have is .312". Anyone know what size works on the Haldin? I hate to have to order one
.250" piece from the kite maker site. They want $17.50 to ship a piece that costs less than $3.00.

I’m unfamiliar with Haldin rods but if they’re tapered, spare/broken rod sections can be used. Advantages include light weight and possibly no need to shim.

Chuck the solid fiberglass stent in a drill then sand it down to fit. You want to do this outside with face mask to be safe.

Solid fiberglass rod can be found at most hardware/farm stores. Look in the sign section for slightly thinner material (used for holding up reflective road markers) or in the fence section for slightly thicker stuff (used for line posts for electric fence). They're cheap.

Thanks for all of the replies. Matt at Proof has taken care of me. His customer service is the best.
