Replaced the grip and seat on my CGR 5/6. Grip was too small in diameter thus hard on my somewhat arthritic hands. All components from Proof. 5/6 rod at top and big brother CGR7/8 for comparison.

A great improvement!
My last pre-formed grip was the "snub-nosed" FW from Proof and it was of top quality; quite remarkable for the price.
Just to try the awesome new photo uploader, here are a couple of imProofed Classic Trouts:

Some more rods I have replaced the grip/seat on. The Echo 8'-6" 4 wt. had the worst cork I have ever seen on a new rod. The Cabelas's Cahill .5 is a perfect reel for this rod. The Orvis rod is a Rocky Mountain graphite 8'-6", 4 piece, 6 wt. This had a grip too slender for my hand and no-so-great cork. All components from Proof. This is really easy to do.

Those look really nice. I will probably replace the seat on my Echo Glass 8'6" 5wt at some point. What did you find underneath the cork of the old reel seat ?

The blank runs all the way to the butt. There was a metal butt cap that I had to cut off as it was epoxied too deep to safely use heat to soften and remove. The new reel seat was just epoxied over it.

Very nice work guys! I like a wider grip myself. I'm always amazed how different a grip can feel even 1 mm wider or narrower.
