I have two Fenwick FF116 rods that were built in New Zealand under licence by Kilwell (Kelly Rotorua Ltd). One has an Allan reel seat and the other very well may be an Allan, but has a plug which is easily removed, giving me access to inside the shaft. I understand that the US Fenwick FF116 was supplied with a fighting butt that could be inserted when required. I would like to build one so the rod is more suitable for fighting yellowtail kingfish. I would appreciate a picture of the insert fighting butt, or information on how far up the shaft it needs to go. I imagine a matching piece of fibreglass rod would suffice. The insert would have a "spacer" that fits snuggly into the bottom of the reel seat. The cork/rubber/synthetic piece to fit on the end of the fighting butt shaft should be easy enough to find. Comments appreciated please. Cheers, Dick
