Has anyone modified their glass blanks before building them into a rod?

For instance, trimmed the tip and butt an inch or two to alter the action, added plugs or inserts into the blank, or extended the butt section?

I am curious how the above procedures can alter the action of a blank ...

Thanks in advance for any input.

I haven't personally, but I do have a Scott SF Era Fierglass 8' trout rod, and in it you can see an fiberglass insert about 2/3 the way up in the tip section, and also there is some kind of metal wire or rod visible inside the diameter of the tip when the tip top was off.
This is a really great fishing rod, and I found it very difficult to throw a tailing loop even when trying to -I have to think the inserts make a good difference and were very well engineered.
