It’s on sale (apparently heavily discounted) for $125. The basic check looks similar to the Pflueger Sal Trout. Anyone own one?

We call that a caliper clicker - it's the same in both directions.
A clockwork click-pawl has a difference in wind resistance and pay resistance that results from the asymmetric and off-center pawl shape, as well as biased spring tension between the two directions.
